Good News! We are officially HOMELESS! | Making a Major Transition in Life

Entering a new chapter in our life on the road...

Hello again!

Lindsay and I are pleased to announce that we are officially homeless! You might wonder why that is good news. Well, it’s great news because it means that we have successfully sold our beloved “Pavement Princess” to a wonderful new owner with many plans to begin her life on the road soon!

I will not lie - handing over the keys and watching the motorhome drive off without us inside was incredibly difficult. Remember, I am not a big fan of change, and I have a tattooed arm to remind me that change is a part of life!

But in the past few weeks, Lindsay and I have made peace with our decisions and with the gradual process of emotionally separating ourselves from the motorhome. (See, I just did it… by saying “motorhome” instead of “home on the road.”)

If you’ve joined our wander because of our Motorhome Remodel Tour video or any of the 40+ episodes we released as part of our remodel, you know that we touched every inch of that motorhome as we tore out the old and rebuilt the new exactly how we wanted. There were no mistakes or incomplete jobs with any component or feature of the motorhome and we handed over the keys knowing that there were no outstanding projects that we wanted to do but never got around to.

The motorhome (there, I did it again!) was ideally suited for a chapter in our life on the road that required everything to be just the way we made it. From the massive lithium battery bank and solar panel setup to the desk and couch setup, the hidden laundry chute/dog step to the DIY composting toilet and so much more – everything was intentional and served its purpose perfectly.

As I walk out the door to my parent’s house, I see a big empty spot in the driveway where our motorhome used to be. I remember it fondly from the months it sat there while we remodeled it and the few times we’ve returned over the years to visit, and I wonder how it is, getting a slight makeover from the new owner and whether we’ll ever see it somewhere on the road.

With that thought comes the immediate rush of panic and anxiety over what will happen next. This thought is also bittersweet because we have ideas of what we think will happen next (sweet), but we know it won’t be precisely what we had before and it will take some time to adjust to whatever it may be (bitter).

In over 6 years of living full-time on the road, we’ve transitioned once before between our truck camper (“Rocket and Tree Trimmer”) and our Class C motorhome (“Pavement Princess”). That, too, was a challenge because we had custom-modified and outfitted that flatbed truck camper to specifically take us into our dream of driving from Florida to Alaska and then from Alaska to Argentina along the Pan American Highway.

As you may or may not know, depending on when you joined our wander, we never completed that trip as breakdowns, financial uncertainties and a global pandemic restricted us from ever going further south than Baja.

However, we do not believe anything happens accidentally or without consequence. We always credit Divine Intervention for moments like the one we had sitting on a beach in Baja where one dream ended and another began.

That was years ago, and we’ve been fortunate to see this new dream unfold. We have found a particular place we love, with particular people we can advocate for, and we can encourage, inspire, and influence particular people to pursue an Abundant Life in whatever way that may look for them.

We’ll share more about this dream as it continues to drive us in our decisions, actions, and even daily thoughts as we attempt to help others live their best lives—whether on the road or not!

So, what’s our new direction in the next chapter of our wander? Well, it’s easy to say that our fall-to-spring seasons will remain dedicated to Baja and the caravan business we are building there. It’s just that our method of traveling is changing, and we’re still working on it!

We are moving to a truck and trailer combination. Just a few weeks ago, we signed away the next 7 years of our lives to purchase a beautiful (yet-to-be-nicknamed!) Ford F350 with a 7.3L gas engine and a long bed. She is big enough to haul or carry any number of trailers, and we’ve spent hours weighing the pros and cons of a bumper-pull travel trailer versus a fifth-wheel trailer.

We’re leaning heavily toward the 5th wheel option… but we’re also being patient and waiting for some things to shake out that we hope will lead us to the right trailer to call home for the next few years.

Do you have a preference? We’d love to hear your thoughts!

In Baja News…

If you’re joining us because of our Baja content and the great information and resources we have and share, be sure to head over to RVingBaja.com, where you can find out everything we know about that beautiful peninsula! Stick around here for updates on our general wandering and sign up for our Baja Newsletter to stay up-to-date for all things Baja!

In wrapping up, we still have a few open spots on the January 5 and March 5 30-day Baja caravans offered through our friends at Baja Amigos. Lindsay and I led these exact caravans last winter and loved the experiences we shared with many great people! It doesn’t seem like it… but January is fast approaching so if you’ve been on the fence about it, let us know sooner than later so we can get you onboarded with the Baja Amigos team!

If you’re looking further ahead, we’re already pre-registering for our 2nd Annual “Wander to Baja” 40-day RV Caravan that will be on the road from February - March 2026. This year’s edition booked out quickly! So we’re getting word out as early as possible for anyone who wants to travel with us, where Lindsay and I will personally guide you through our favorite region in the world!

We’re also nearly finished with our “RVing and Camping the Baja Peninsula” paperback guidebook update. The first edition has helped several thousand people plan their Baja adventures and we’re packing even more great information, insight and insider information into the second edition!

Because we’re selling the guidebook on Amazon, we have no control over pricing or discounting. However, you’ll be the first to know when it becomes available (hopefully before Thanksgiving!).

We are always grateful to have you in our lives, joining our wander in whatever way you found us and sticking it out with us for whatever reasons our lives impact yours! Lindsay and I know now more than ever there are so many other people out there filling the internet with all sorts of content and we find it harder and harder to stand out as authentic, true influencers.

But we are always encouraged when we hear back from you and how things are going in your life! So feel free to respond to this or connect with us on our social media channels and let us know how things are going in your part of the world.

We don’t offer this enough, but if you have anything in life you’d like us to pray for, please let us know. You don’t have to be a praying person or even believe in the power of prayer. We are, and we do believe in its power! So let us know how we can advocate on your behalf so you can know that somewhere in some other part of the world, someone else is thinking about and praying for you.

Many thanks for continuing to include us in your lives! We look forward to the new chapter that has begun and how we hope it may encourage and inspire you!

See you next week!

Much Love,

Chris & Lindsay + Everest + Huckleberry!

Greetings! When Lindsay and I were struggling with which decision to make at the beginning of June, it occurred to us that the Black Hills of South Dakota are an incredibly special place. Historically, they were (are) considered sacred by Native American tribes and we’ve learned there is still an undercurrent of activity to try and restore them as such. If you spend any time out here, you will quickly understand why they are so special. Sure, they lack the majesty of 14,000-foot peaks of the...

Hello Friend, Lindsay and I were driving back from a medical appointment the other day when Pink Floyd’s “Money” passed through our playlist. We typically skip this song and other Pink Floyd songs as they tend to evoke a part of my past that I rarely relate to these days. But as the base guitar laid down the catchy beat and the cash register chimed the unique intro, I looked over at Lindsay and we both agreed with a smile and nod to let the song play this time. Our appointment was in Rapid...

Hola! (Please note, this is another Baja-specific email. If you joined our mailing list for non-Baja-specific content, please know that what we are trying to do in Baja is at the heart of who we are and we hope you’ll stick it out with us!) As we continue to roll out the details of the first edition of our “Wander to Baja” RV meetup event in La Paz February 19-23, 2024 we want to introduce you to what we believe will be a truly unique and transformative way for you to experience more during...
